Abstract

The research aims to clarify the semantics of the past verbs associated with the words of sharp contrast in the light of the Quranic usage. Because the function of the context is to reveal the meaning in the text by taking into account what is before and after it, the verbs are not always carried on their lexical, sensory meanings, but rather have a moral depth related to the mind. The study adopted the Western concept of antagonism, which is the presence of two words that differ in pronunciation and have opposite meanings, such as: long and short
