Smart thinking and its Relationship to Achievement Motivation for Students of College of Education for Human Sciences in Mosul University
Abstract
The Study aims to determine the level of smart thinking and of achievement motivation and the relation between them at the students of the college of education for human sciences, and to identify the significances of differences in the level of smart thinking and achievement motivation according to the variable of gender(male- femal),the research sample comprised (200) students (male and female) who were chosen by stratified random sample approach from the departments of Educational and the Psychological Sciences and the department of Geography. To realize the objectives of the study, a test of smart thinking was prepared consisting of (25)items with two choices (a-b).The scale of achievement motivation prepared by (Sardar Mohammad Sharaf Saadi,2020) was adopted consisting of (57) items and each items has (5) choices (always apply to me ,mostly apply to me , apply to me to some extent,rarly apply to me,do not apply to me at all). The researchers checked the apparent credibility of the two instruments, and the discriminatory power was calculated for the items of smart thinking and achievement motivation test ,and stability was checked for the smart thinking test where its reliability coefficient was (0.86), whereas that of the achievement motivation criteria was (0.78), data were processed statistically using statistical package (SPSS). After applying the two instrument and calculating the marks, it was evident that the respondents from both genders (males-females) enjoy a high level of smart thinking and differences were statistically significant to the favor of males. It also became evident that the individuals of the sample (both males-females) were of high level of achievement motivation,and the differences were statistically significant in favor of males.The results of the research also showed the existence of a positive relation and of a strong statistical significance between the level of smart thinking and the level of achievement motivation at the individuals of the sample.The researchers also set a number of recommendations and suggestions
