III King Adad-NarariCampaign of the Assyrian ) 783- 810 BC) on Syria
Abstract
The research was an attempt to study the campaign of the Assyrian King Adad-Narari III (810-783 BC) on Syria, where the kingdom of Urartu grew during his reign, which threatened the borders of the northeastern Assyrian state, and military clashes occurred, especially in the Median region, but in the northwest of Assyria. The Kingdom of Urartu crossed the borders that were under Assyrian control, especially the Milid region, and Urartu began to put pressure on the Assyrian state, so some kingdoms in northern Syria took advantage of it.And it formed an alliance that included Damascus, Qawi, Korkarm, Beit Akoshi and Cilicia to confront the Assyrians by attacking the pro-Assyrian state of Hama. Adad-Narari III hastened to provide assistance to his vassal and was able to eliminate this alliance, and one of the results of the pressure of the Kingdom of Urartu in the west was that the center of Assyria's control moved in Syria To the south, where the Urartians dominated the metal trade in Anatolia, after the Assyrian state was in control of the trade routes leading to mineral ores in Anatolia.
