Abstract

Harran is a great and famous city, according to Yakut al-Hamawi, It is located on the Al-Djazra. It is the home of science and scientists, and among the sciences in which Harran scholars excelled; Medicine, So, Byoutat became famous in the medical industry as the Thabet bin Qara Al-Sabi family Who had great credit for him and his sons and grandsons in developing the science of medicine, both in theory and through their books Or, in practice, through their service with the caliphs of Bani al-Abbas.
The reputation of the Harranians in the medical industry spread even in Andalusia, so we find the doctor Yunus bin Ahmed Al-Harani (he was alive in the year 400 AH/1022 AD), who achieved wide fame. His two sons, Ahmad (was alive in 366 AH/976 AD) and Umar followed in the same footsteps as their father in specializing in the medical profession, so they traveled to Baghdad and stayed there for ten years receiving medical sciences. Then they returned to Andalusia and were found with the Umayyad Caliph Al-Mustansir Billah (350-366 AH / 961-971 AD), who brought them close and accompanied him in his dissolution, his travels and his conquests
So: How did Harran's doctors contribute to the development and promotion of the medical industry in the East and West?
