Abstract

Narrative time is one of the main times that contribute to the construction of events. In addition, time was later considered a bet on novelist experimentation, after novels began to manipulate crises and introduce a form of experimental development on the structure of the novel. We are trying in this research to stop at one of the temporal shifts and the aesthetics they give to the novelistic text, after the linear sequence of time in the new novel has become one of the things that are no longer respected in the euphemisms of novels, which have become based on breaking this system and moving away from the norm, which in turn He works to break the narration column, so she created a special chronological system on the basis of which she freely recounts the events of the novel based on overlap, synchronicity, and regression. The novel (Shadows of the Valley) by Munira Al-Subaie is considered a model of this new novel, which seeks to establish its own narrative system, in which the narrative structure is presented in a more intense and profound way. And we believe in the aesthetic of the technical metaphor (reversion) and its importance in this novel, which contained many changes in the temporal structure, and the temporal regression in it was one of the temptations that prompted me to choose it as a different aesthetic model. Accordingly, our study was based on the following plan: 1. Introduction: The concept of time. 2. The concept of temporal regression in the novel. 3. Motives or motives of time reversion. 4. Types of time regression. 5. The amplitude of temporal regression.
