Abstract

This research paper tackles one of the important aspects of the civil war that broke out in Lebanon in 1975 represented by the intervention of the Syrian military troops to the Lebanese lands in 1976 and the joint Israeli-American policy towards it. Although the Syrian government worked hard to put an end to this war and tried all the possible means to confront the Israeli ambitions in the Lebanese lands and waters. After the failure of all the political and diplomatic intermediaries to stop the war, the Syrian government had to resort to the military solution to stand affront the strategic Israeli danger which aimed at starting conflicts in Lebanon so as to divide it into sectors and thereafter ignite tension and conflicts between the Lebanese and the Palestinians.
