Contradiction is one of the moral forms of Al-Badi that has received great importance in the rhetorical and critical heritage. It has a significant impact in escalating the movement of the internal structure and producing new connotations in the text and in expressing the emotional thought that the poet lived, since it expresses all the situations that a person experiences through the poetic vision that he forms of reality based on the struggle of opposites, so a thing is not known except by its opposite. . For this reason, the research sought to reveal how contradiction was employed in the poetry collection of the poet Abdel Wahab Ismail (Obsessions on a Special Mirror); For his role in shaping the poetic text and adding beauty according to his intellectual visions and what he wanted to convey to the reader.Hence, the research plan required it to be in two sections:The first section devoted itself to explaining the concept of opposition and highlighting its role in constructing the literary text, then presenting an overview of the poets life.The second section was entitled (Patterns of Contradiction) and was divided into two parts:The first: the opposition of the verbal context (counterpoint), and the second: the opposition of the moral context. What we aim to highlight is the semantic impact of the contrast, the aesthetic value stored in its words, and the impact it generates on the recipient.
