Abstract

As is universally acknowledged, " winds" in general are of four types: the North, the South, the East and the West Winds. Ad-Duleimy (1999:12) maintains that traditionally for Arabs, winds are classified into two types: the summer and the winter winds. The former are called the "heat" winds and they include both south and west winds, whereas the latter are known to be the cold ones; they are the north and the east winds.
