Abstract

Determining the distinguished (Morphological, Physiological, Physical, and Skill) characteristics among high performance level and ordinary performance level groups of young players in the game of basketball.2. Establishing a distinction function with the ability to predict the high performance level young in basketball.To reach the objectives, the researcher considered the following1. Considerable distinctions exist between the two groups (The young players of high performance and those of ordinary performance level) in the games of basketball in some morphological, physiological, physical, and skill aspects.2. The distinction factor is characterized by a high degree of predictability within the group of young players of high performance in games of basketball.The research was conducted on a community of team players of the Ministry of education teams in basketball sport games for the year semester 2002-2003 , The research sample was chosen by deliberate method, and it consisted of (24) basketball players, and through applying the test and measurement methods on the research sample, and Statistically processing the data using (Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage, standard degree . , T degree, and distinction analysis using the SPSS statistic System ). The following conclusions were deduced :1. Through the distinction analysis, three skill and morphological variables that lead to the distinction between the two groups were concluded as following (the precession of passing the ball, foul shot, and percentage of fat ).2. Two formulas were reached through which the predictability of the position of player among the group can be determined in both groups. One is a non-standard formula that utilizes the crude degrees after adding a constant.Non standard formula 0.069 0.1 87x percentage offat variable + 0.165 xprecision ofpassing + 0.355 xfree shootThe second is a standard formula after transforming the crude degrees into standard degrees.Standard formulae 0.0939 - percentage offat variable + 0.527x precision ofpassing A~Q 820 xfree shoot The second is a standard formula after transforming the crude degrees into standard degrees.3. The distinction function was valid for classifying the players with a percentage of success (91.7 %) which indicates the ability of this function to predict and classify basketball players according to their measures in distinction variables.
