, (366) , , , . , , .The present paper aims at introducing one of the most celebrated figures who served the scientific movement in Andalucia and who played an important role in its progress and prosperity . This figure is caliph AL_Hakam AL_Mustansir bil-llah (died 366 A.H).The significance of this study lies in its being an attempt at highlighting the position of this figure in order to depict a real historical image for him .The study includes an introduction of this figure such as his birth, early life , old age and scientific abilities to make up a whole dimensional character besides his work in politics as a caliph , which is considered as the major element in his social position .The study also touches upon his efforts in establishing his library and its funding resources through importing great thinkers to corduba and urging them to write as well as to send experienced pepole to different places to bring books . He could found a library that is considered one of the most famous library in the islamic world at that time , which made him a major figure in the Islamic Arab civilization .
