The Relationship between the Emotional Stability and the Self Concept in Gifted Students and their Ordinary Peers

Many specialists in the field psychology have been interested in the concept of emotional stability in addition to the interest in other human sciences such as philosophy and literature . The readers of psychological theories will find out that such theories take this concept as an aim which has an effect on the continuity of life in a way that guarantees its development for the better . There is still the interes to uncover the reality of this concept its characteristics, the factors which affect it, and what impact it has on the individual's character. Hence, the study aims at measuring the emotional stability and the self concept for the gifted students and their ordinary peers and finding out the type of relationship between them. The sample of the study comprises 200 male and female students of both distinguished and ordinary students . The emotional stability and self concept measures were used as two tools for measuring the studied variables and the external validity of the tools was calculated and were confirmed by a committee of experts. Consistency was found by reapplying the tools and the data were analyzed statistically after they were processed by the computer using SPSS represented by the mathematical average, correlative and T-test .The findings of the study are represented by a high emotional stability and self concept.. There was a positive relationship between the emotional stability and the self concept in both types of students. There were also significant differences in the emotional stability concept in relation to the sex variable and no significant differences in the self concept in relation to the sex variable. The study ends up with a number of suggestions and recommendations .
