Proverbs included in Mu'jam AlTahdheeb Dictionary, by AlAzhari that were not mentioned by AlMaidani - An analytical study -
Abstract
Praise be to Almighty Allah the lord of all the worlds and peace and blessings be upon our master Mohammed and upon his family members and companions. The proverbs express a group of old events that took place a long time ago and each one of these proverbs is a real story that happened to people or an individual and from which the moral or the wisdom was derived. The essence of the current research is discussing certain proverbs that were presented by AlAzhari (died in 370 A.H.) in his dictionary entitled (Tahtheeb AlLhugha, and these proverbs were not presented by AlMaidani, i.e. they were not taken into such a pattern of analysis and interpretation. It was evident to the researcher that the subject of proverbs demands understanding the text wholly, away from the essence of the vocabulary to be analyzed because without comprehending the meaning of the context the real denotation of the vocabulary cannot be comprehended. Finally, the proverbs are of great importance for the Arabs as they consider them as the straight line they follow because they express the wisdom they seek whether in the pre-Islamic era or Islamic era.
