Abstract

A spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of tamoxifen citrate. The method relies on the formation of a pink-colored complex in an aqueous medium resulting from the reaction of microgram quantities of the mentioned drug with 1 milliliter of Eosin B in the presence of acetic acid at a concentration of 1 M. The absorption was measured at a wavelength of 543 nm. and the molar absorptivity was found to be 3.9 104 L/mol.cm, indicating the sensitivity of the method. The method demonstrated compliance within the range of (0.5-22.5) g /ml, with a relative standard deviation of less than 0.84. The recovery rate reached 98.80%. The detection limit was 0.259, and the quantification limit was 0.865. The method stood out for its precision and good linearity, as well as its ease of application to pharmaceutical formulations of the mentioned drug. In this way, it can be said that working on such experiments in the future is beneficial, especially considering the cost-effective approach used in this research. Additionally, researchers in the field of analytical chemistry can follow the methodology employed in this study with other dyes. Similarly, the same methods can be applied to other local or international pharmaceutical products. Therefore, it is essential to proceed in this direction to achieve the best possible results at minimal costs.
