Abstract

: ( ) ( ) ( -) ( -) (153) ( 1997) :1. () () () () () (). 2. ( ) . 3. ( ) . This research is aimed o identify the common thinking styles of students at university level, and to reveal the differences between these styles according to the variables: specialization (scientific, human). A random sample of (153) students has been chosen, and it has included both male and female students and of both branches of specialization mentioned above. To achieve the research aims, a list prepared by Sternberg (1997), has been used to measure students thinking styles. The validity and stability of this list has been found by using the re-test and variance analysis. The results has been computed by using Pearson correlation factor, mean, standard deviation, and T-test of two independent samplesThe results are the following:1. The most common style used by the sample subjects is the hierarchic thinking style followed by the external one, then comes the minimal thinking style. The least used thinking style is the global thinking style, followed by conservative one and then followed by the internal thinking style,2. There are four significant styles according to the variable of specialization, viz , executive ,hierarchic ,monarchic ,and the anarchic thinking style. All of these styles are in favour of the scientific specialization.3. There are significant differences between the two most common styles according to the variable of sex, viz , the executive and external thinking styles and favour of male subjects .
