Measuring Ego-Strength for a Sample of Tattooed persons inMosul City
Abstract
tattoo . . () . . .Tattoo was known by cultural anthropology as a decorative habit. Many primitive people practiced it as a means of protection against magic action. At the end of the 17th , century , tattoo was associated with some social groups which live under the sense of social margining , then tattoo spread out amongst them remarkably . This motivated scholars and researchers in psychiatry , psychology , sociology , to study tattoo as a phenomena that accompanies character disorder So many studies appeared in these fields dealt with the tattooed character with regard to his / her family , emotional history , dynamic and causes that motivates him to have sculptury on the body . This paper also reviewed historical facets of the tattoo according to its types, functions, and symbols. The researcher also reviewed some previous studies that dealt with tattooed personality and some other variables. The researcher used Baron ego- strength scale to know the level of ego- strength power for samples of tattooed persons in Mosul .The results showed ego-strength level decrease for the subjects of the sample which is near from the result of a similar foreign study. The researcher gave some suggestions and recommendations that could open a number of various perspective studies for this phenomena .
