Measuring Cognitive Motivation the Basic EducationCollage's Students
Abstract

The study has focused on recognizing the level of the cognitive motivation of students at the basic education collage / Mosul university and the effects of the sex variable (male / female) and the field of specialization (scientific / human) on the cognitive motivation. The number of the random research sample, were (126) male and female students. The tool used in the research was that of (mahmood 2004) for measuring the cognitive motivation of Mosul university students after modifying it by concluding the validity and stability and was applied on the main research sample during the second half of the academic year (2007-2008) which was (126) female and male students.The most important statistical means applied in the study are (T-Test for one sample, T-Test for two separated samples and person correlation coefficient). The significant results are the following : high levels of cognitive motivation generally in basic education collage's students and the variable effect of the education specialization on the cognitive motivation of which the advantage was for the scientific one. The sex variable had no effects on the cognitive motivation of the male and female students.The study is concluded with some recommendations and suggestions: the necessity of participating the educational officials in making use and advantage of students high cognitive motivation for increasing the scientific activities and the participation and competitions of colleges in this field to make a successful progress .
