The effect of using peers teaching strategy on the development of the self concept for geography students at the basic education college
Abstract
(2006-2007) (23) (1979) (0.80) . t-test ( ) ( ) .The current research aimed to identify the effect of using peer teaching strategy in developing the self-concept for students of Geography Department /College of Basic Education /University of Mosul .The sample were (23)students at the third stage of the geography department at the college of basic education for the academic year 2006-2007. The researcher used the tool prepared by bakr (1979) and wich is presented to a panel of experts specialized in Education and Psychology The reached (0.08)WAS calculated the researcher by re-applying the test. The researcher pre-applied the self-concept scale on the sample, then she taught the group using the suggested peers-teaching strategy. The experiment lasted (10) weeks. After the end of the experiment ,the researcher applied the post_ application of the scale, and used the t.test for two independent groups as astatistical means .The results showed statistically significant dafferences favor in of the pupils responses (males and females) in the post- application of the scale .thes results are attributed to peer-teaching strategy and it effect in developing self concept . Given the above mentioned information, the researcher presented a number of suggestions and recommendations One of them is to use the peer-teaching strategy in the teaching of the geography stuff. The researcher suggested initiating a similar study but in other academic levels.
