Definite and Indefinite
Abstract
() () () : () () : . () () .Grammarians consider relative(who) definite ; it is one of the six definites specified by Grammar books .Actually relative who is indefinite and the researcher clarifies this by mentioning the basic function of the relative noun and its relation with the recurrent pronoun . the first section of this research handles this fact . Although grammarians treat relative (who) as being definite . they indicate just the opposite . this is the concern of the second section which goes under the title : evidence of treating relative (who) As indefinite and general . In order to emphasize the analysis the researcher uses some Quraanic verses which contain relative (who) and clarifies its indefinite meaning even if it seems recurrent on itself because of the context or the descending reasons these chosen examples are included within the last section entitled Quraanic Applications .The researcher tries to prove that relative (who) wherever it is used in the Holly Quraan , is indefinite referring to the general and not definite having the position of (who) and referring to a specific thing as grammarians say .
