Mental visualization strategy and its impact on developing book cover design skills in the subject of design and decoration
Abstract
The current research aims to know the impact of the mental visualization strategy on developing book cover design skills in the subject of design and decoration. The research population was determined by the female students of the third stage of the Department of Art Education/College of Fine Arts/University of Diyala, who numbered 49 students studying design and decoration distributed into two classrooms. The researcher randomly selected the female students of the second hall to be a basic sample for his research, and their number was 23. The researcher followed a one-group experimental design with a pre-and post-test, and the final sample was (13) female students who studied design and decoration according to the mental visualization strategy. The researcher prepared an observation form for book cover design skills consisting of (10) basic skills. The alternatives were formed from the following: (imitative idea, familiar idea, and innovative idea), and the researcher extracted the psychometric characteristics. The study results showed that applying mental visualization strategies enhanced students abilities to create innovative and attractive designs for book covers.
