Symbolic violence against women and its reflection in theatrical performance, presenting the play of Sabaya Baghdad as an example
Abstract
Violence is a common phenomenon in all societies and times, followed by behavior based on force, coercion, tyranny, harming the individual, and exercising illegal force against him. Its roots extend to instinctive, psychological, and physiological factors. This behavior may cause negative psychological and social effects on individuals, and the groups against whom it is practiced have varied. Violence, including feminist violence in its symbolic form. Based on the above, the researcher divided her research topic into four chapters. The first chapter contained the methodological framework, beginning with the research problem centered on the following question:( How was symbolic violence against women reflected in the performance of the theatrical actress?), and hence the importance of the research. The need for it was evident in directing attention to the phenomenon of symbolic violence, after which it is a psychological and behavioral issue for the individual who directs its effects on the abuser. This research aimed to identify symbolic violence against women and its reflection on theatrical performance, presenting the play of Sabaya Baghdad as an example. The first chapter included defining the terminology. It is limited to the following: violence - the symbol) and includes the temporal limits represented by 2018 and the spatial limits specified in the theatrical performance in Baghdad, Iraq. The objective boundaries were determined by studying symbolic violence against women and its reflection on the theatrical performance play of Sabaya Baghdad as an example. The second chapter (the theoretical framework) included two sections entitled (Feminist Theater and Symbolic violence against women. The chapter concludes with the indicators that resulted from the theoretical framework. The third chapter included research procedures that dealt with society, methodology, and research tools, choosing the purposive sample, and then analyzing the sample. The fourth chapter included the research results, conclusions, suggestions, and references.
