Abstract

The dowry or dowry: The dowry is known as an amount of money or any other property, usually given by the husband to his wife, and it is a tradition of marriage in some cultures, but some customs and traditions followed in some countries look at this matter from a different angle.
As for Islam, the dowry in Islam is: a sum of money paid to the woman, and it is intended for the obligatory meaning: what God Almighty has imposed on the woman and made it a right for her. As for what is required for women because of the marital contract; He is who is agreed upon after the obligatory duty or what is given to the woman as a form of appreciation and respect for her and it is the husbands recognition of his wifes independence; She receives her dowry when she marries it, as the dowry is not the brides price, because marriage in Islam is not a sale of a bride to her husband, and because the dignity of the bride and her family is safeguarded under Islam, neither of them is obligated to present a gift to attract the engagement.
