Al-Jawhari’s (died 400 AH) Choices in his Sahih on the structures of verbs from Al-Farra’s (died 207 AH) morphological Ideas.
Abstract
I am not an innovator among the students who seek to uncover the secrets of the language, who are diligent in searching for what the pens have stopped at, and whose limits have been deferred, who are eager to find out the opinions of an ancient scientific school, the writings of whose scholars have disappeared and been lost among the ravages of wars, invasions, and the fall of states and kings And the kingdoms, a school that was a peer I am stubborn towards the unique school of Basra, full of its scholars and disciples, a school whose scholars opinions were fragmented among books and works. Our study revealed the opinions of many of its great scholars, and a Kufic leader who was distinguished by his opposition to opinions, Al-Farra (d. 207 AH), with everything that this name included and the school of Kufa. All language is in the edifices of dictionaries, and the folds of its green shelves; Our study was based on the dictionary (Al-Sihah Taj Al-Lughah and Sihah Al-Arabiya) by Al-Jawhari, who died around the year 400 AH, the pure source of the opinions of Arabic scholars, and the specificity of Al-Jawhari in his ability to select, employ, and cite Al-Farras morphological opinions from them, and place them in a context as required by the position, with all acumen and understanding. Knowledge and awareness, so the title of my subsequent research was labeled (The choices of Al-Jawhari (d. 400 AH) in his Sahih regarding the structures of verbs from the morphological opinions of Al-Farra (d. 207 AH), and I chose the structures of verbs; Because it is the structure most frequently mentioned in Al-Farras morphological opinions.
