Cognitive Criticism : Toward a Methodological Substitution
Abstract
This study aims to search in the field of cognitive criticism, which we believe to be the hypothesis of the research, is a systematic substitution that goes beyond the sayings of death and modern endings; The death of the author, the death of the critic, the death of the text, the birth of the reader, and the end of history, which characterized the contextual and systemic approaches, and the theories directed to the reader, deconstructive and others, and establishes a comprehensive view of criticism, the basis of which is the search for what is aesthetic in the text to reveal the epistemic in it. As cognitive criticism is a cross-disciplinary vision that looks at criticism in a holistic view, combining the trilogy of context, text and recipient. It is based on the idea of investment and continuing rather than death and cancellation, and it raises awareness as an essential value in critical thinking, and it takes from the achievements of knowledge theory tools for understanding and interpretation. The cognitive criticism project comes to absorb the critical effort that was distributed by many approaches to criticism, and to establish a new methodological replacement based on the inspiration of everything that would illuminate the literary text, in a way that does not contradict the principles of the mind, in which the texture of the text extends to the external context and the values in it. A reason for the production of the text, and to the receiver and the vision that it carries to reproduce the text. This research poses a problem that tries to uncover its circumstances, which is: Is the criticism destined to be based on contradiction and cancellation? Can cognitive criticism represent a new methodological substitution for reading the creative text away from the sayings of abolition and death that dominated the critical vision? What are the literacy approaches that epistemological criticism takes in re-discovering the human knowledge reflected in the text by investing in many specialized studies?
