Motives and Calculation for the Russian –Ukrainian War: a study in the Geopolitical and Geostrategic dimensions
Abstract
The Russian Federation was not satisfied with the international situation that followed the dissolution of the Soviet Union until the outbreak of the war on Ukraine in February 2022, as Russia was aiming behind the war at geostrategic goals that would give it a status and a regional and international role that would restore it to the bipolar pattern, and in return the United States of America invested in the Russian war Ukraine to achieve geopolitical goals that it had drawn in the past and its desire for the war to be more difficult and complicated for its parties (the Russian Federation on the one hand, and Ukraine and its supporters from the European countries and NATO on the other), which means that the international system will remain in its image in the distribution of power and its monopoly by the states the United Nations and its management of the global system according to its desires
