Abstract

The collapse of the Soviet Union and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact led to the creation of the unipolar system and American hegemony. American policy to expand NATO has threatened Russias vital interests, especially security, so Russia has rejected the policy of expanding the alliance. Except that NATO? The United States gave Russia guarantees that the expansion of NATO will not turn into a "bloc against Russia."Because of international, regional and national changes, Russia has changed its stance on NATO expansion, and no longer sees it as a threat to its security interests. Russia pursues a rational policy in order to secure its national interests.
