Abstract
In this study, level of ability to solve verbal problems for fifth graders inside and outside Mosul in Nineveh Governorate will be identified regarding subject of ordinary fractions. Verbal problems that were prepared by two researchers were used with ten questions, each of which has three choices, only one is correct . Researchers took opinion of arbitrators for verification. to determine validity of questions, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) will be used to obtain research results, Researchers concluded the following: 77% of fifth-grade elementary students were able to solve verbal math problems, fifth grade elementary female students possess ability to solve verbal math problems more than males. Furthermore, fifth grade elementary students in city of Mosul were able to solve verbal math problems more than those outside Mosul city.
