Effect of planting date on the growing and yield of different genotypes from sweet corn ( Zea mays L.sspSaccharate
Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate 5 genotypes of sweet maize (Zea mays Lssp Saccharate) (2024-2023) where seeds were planted during the autumn agricultural season (Fito Arzuman, Aristo, Syngenta, Monarch) at the site of the University of Mosul / College of Education for Girls), with three replicates and three dates, the first (15/7/2023), the second (22/7/2023) and the third (29/7/2023), according to randomized complete block design (RCBD). They were studied traits of number of days to 50% tasseling, number of days to 50% silking flowering, plant height, ear length, number of ears, leaf area surrounding the main ear , number of rows per ear , number of grains in row, 100 grains weight, individual plant yield, percentage of carbohydrates, In order to obtain genotypes at optimal dates that are superior in the characteristics of the yield and its components. The results of the genotypes, planting dates, and the interaction between them were significant at 1 and 5%, For most of the characteristics of the yield and its components, The superiority of genotype (Arzuman) followed by (Fito) then by (Syngenta) in the second date for the traits of the yield and its components.
