Abstract

, , . . ( 48 ) . . . . . This study aims at investigating the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and the following variables: academic achievement, sex, and branch of specialization. Three hypotheses have been put to investigate such relationship. The sample of this research consists of (48) students (males& females) at the College of Basic Education/ Mosul University. Salovey et al.'s scale (1995) has been used to measure EI; and students' grades, taken from the Registration Unit at the College, have represented their academic achievement. The researcher has used Pearson Correlation Factor as a statistical tool; and the data has revealed that there is a significant statistical correlation between EI and the variables of academic achievement and sex, but not with the branch of specialization.
