The problem of integration and the timing of recognizing diversity in the Arab region
Abstract
The research discusses the controversy surrounding the nation-state building project between two currents. The first sees the nation-state building project as a model that works to unify multiple cultural models into a single cultural model that forms national identity, while the second current sees that it is time to shift from suppressing Nationalities seek to recognize their specificity and believe that the national identity must be formed and express all the cultural identities that make up society. The research concludes with the necessity of finding a middle space between the two trends that preserves the cultural identities’ specificity while emphasizing political affiliation and loyalty to the national identity and its supremacy.
